TAYLOR, TOM, Ed.D
Dean, College of Business
Dr. Tom Taylor has been a management
professor, guest lecturer, and a frequent guest speaker
for various Universities throughout Southern California
including Chapman University, Vanguard University, and
Pepperdine University. He holds a doctorate in
Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University and
a Master's degree in Organizational Management from
Azusa Pacific University.
Dr. Taylor's dissertation
research was composed of a case study titled The Servant
Leadership of John Wooden. This case study is the only
one of its kind, which examines Coach Wooden’s
leadership philosophy through the lens of the Servant
Leadership Model. Dr. Taylor is considered an expert in
Servant Leadership and is frequently asked to present
his research on the topic and the findings of his case
study to business, academic groups, and conferences.
Dr.
Taylor has published various articles and a number
papers awaiting publication. He is currently in the
process of writing and publishing a book titled The
Servant Leadership of John Wooden: The Enduring Legacy
of a Great Leader On and Off the Court.
In addition to
teaching and guest speaking, Dr. Taylor serves as a
consultant in a variety of areas, including leadership
development, dissertation coaching, and the advisement
of future doctoral students. With a degree in
Environmental Engineering, Dr. Taylor has served as a
Senior Environmental Consultant for over 16 years with a
professional expertise in environmental education,
environmental engineering and consulting, water quality,
health and safety, and regulatory compliance. He has
held various leadership positions for private consulting
and contracting firms. |

BRASFIELD, GIOVANNA, DPA,
Ed.D
Associate DEAN
Dr. Giovanna Brasfield
has an extensive background in community involvement
through her engagement in educational issues, capacity
building, transportation concerns, economic development
and social issues. Dr. Brasfield’s actions and
leadership roles have coined her as “A Woman on the Rise”.
Dr. Brasfield has over 12 years of
experience in marketing, market research and business
development and is the founder of Brasfield & Associates
Marketing, a marketing consulting company that offers a
broad range of marketing, event and sales consulting
services. In 2007, Dr. Brasfield partnered with the El
Camino College Small Business Development (ECC SBDC) to
develop the Youth Entrepreneur Program (YEP), a no-cost
youth and young adult program that will provide
entrepreneurial opportunities for ages 14 to 27. In
addition, Dr. Brasfield aided the ECC SBDC in managing
the California Construction Contracting Program (CCCP),
a government contracting program for minority and
women-owned businesses.
Prior to her current professional
endeavors, Dr. Brasfield had more than a decade of
increasingly responsible experience in community
capacity building as a business service program
developer and strategist. She has created and
implemented several programs related to youth, young
adults, business-financial expansion and enrollment
management. Dr. Brasfield was the Lead Organizer for the
South Los Angeles Jefferson Office for the California
Democratic Party (CDP) in 2006; and was awarded for her
civic engagement by the CDP as a recipient of the John
F. Kennedy Jr. Award for Outstanding Public Service in
2007, Female Democrat of the Year for the 52nd
Assembly District in
2008 among many other accolades and community service
awards.
Dr. Brasfield has received her BA in
Business Administration/Marketing from Mount St. Mary's
College in 1998, her MBA from University of Phoenix in
2000 and Doctorates in Public Administration from
University of La Verne in 2006, while simultaneously
starting and completing her second doctorates degree an
Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership at the University of
La Verne, which was completed in 2007. Dr. Brasfield is
also a graduate of the Los Angeles African American
Women Public Policy Institute (LAAAWPPI) in 2005 and a
Certified NxLevel Business Instructor.
Dr. Brasfield was the Past Ballot
Measure Committee Co-Chair for the Los Angeles County
Democratic Party (LACDP), Past Treasurer for the
California Democratic Party – African American Caucus
(2009-2008), Financial Secretary for the Los Angeles
African American Women Public Action Committee (LAAAWPAC)
(2009-Present)Delegate for the 52nd
Assembly District for
the California Democratic Party and the Los Angeles
Democratic Party, a Commissioner on the City of
Compton’s Oversight Committee (2009-2008), Commissioner
for Compton Unified School District Bond Oversight
Committee (2009-2008), a Member of the Sisters of the
Academy Institute, Founder of the Consortium of American
Schools, Colleges, and Universities (CASCU), Founder of
the Economic Empowerment & Development Foundation,

DAVIDSON, JOSH, MBA
Assistant Professor of Business
Prof. Davidson graduated from Harding
University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. He
spent time as a general assignments reporter for ABC
News in Grand Junction, Colorado before moving to Los
Angeles to pursue a career in business. Josh has worked
in numerous management positions for the Walt Disney
Company and Hilton Hotels Corporation specializing in
the area of guest relations. In 2007 he received an MBA
with an emphasis in management from the University of
Phoenix, which served as the inspiration to pursue
fulltime private business ownership.
In late 2003, Josh founded the public
relations and marketing firm known as Moving Target
Communications (MTC). After signing a handful of small
business clients, the MTC portfolio began to grow in
2007 and Josh left a management position with the Hilton
Hotels Corporation to oversee the influx. He is the
current Business Director of Beach City Group, LLC and
the managing partner of Moving Target Communications.

SHU, STEVE, MBA, ME
Assistant Professor of Business
Professor Shu holds an MBA from the
University of Chicago and both an ME and BS in
Electrical Engineering from Cornell University. He is a
management consultant and business development
professional with over sixteen years of industry
experience and provides both interim management and
business strategy, marketing, finance, and operations
consulting services to clients. Specialty sectors
include high-tech, software, services,
communications/telecom, startups, and growth-phase
companies.
Professor Shu has held a number consulting
and management roles, including as a principal
consultant with Nortel Business Consulting where he
incubated the business and led the carrier practice to
provide services such as business and marketing plan
development & spectrum valuation, Vice President of
Operations and Business Development for FiveSight
(acquired by Intalio) where he played a lead role in
obtaining both corporate venture capital financing and
new clients, COO for 21Publish where he helped with
international expansion and deal structuring for
lighthouse accounts in the Web 2.0 social media space,
and management consultant with Pittiglio Rabin Todd and
McGrath (PRTM) where he helped to develop the
operational processes for growth-phase companies and
carve-outs.
Professor Shu has consulted to numerous
clients throughout his career, including Vodafone UK, TeleCable, WoltersKluwer Health, PUC Telecom, Kingston
Communications, Telkom Indonesia, GTE, SpectraSite,
BenefitMall, and Advocate Healthcare. |

MATAI, SEEMA, MBA
Professor of Business
In 1996 Matai received her BA in Communication from UC Santa Barbara. It was there that she participated in the National Television Violence Study (NTVS) commissioned by Senator Paul Simon. Matai holds an MBA with and emphasis on Marketing and Management Information Systems from UC Riverside.
At Riverside, she taught and assisted in instruction of Marketing, Market Research, Consumer Behavior, and Business Strategy. Her Master’s Thesis was on Linux and its application in the field of Retail Technology. She also conducted projects for multi-million dollar corporations such as Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Epson and Icee.
After completing her MBA, she entered the Internet industry as an Auctions Manager. She moved from the Internet industry to J.D. Power and Associates to conduct automotive studies. While there, she worked closely with large-scale organizations such as Nissan, Volkswagen, Subaru and Daimler Chrysler. In April of 2002, she began her own venture called Interactive Focus. Today, Subaru still remains one of Matai’s clients. Her professional awards are: The Bank of America Achievement Award in Business; The Santa Barbara Industry and Educational Council and Business Award; Soroptomist’s Young Woman of the Year for Southern California; UCSB Department of Communication Award Outstanding Community Service Award; 2005 Nominee San Fernando Valley Business Journal Women Who Mean Business Award.

BRADLEY, ALEXANDER, MBA
Associate Professor of Business
Alexander Bradley graduated with a BA
degree in Physics with a minor in Mathematics from San
Diego State University. In 1977 Alex furthered his
educational achievements by obtaining his MBA from
Pepperdine University. Throughout the course of his
career, Alex also attained many other industrial
certificates including Cisco Router Configuration, CDP,
CNE, and Network+.
He sat as president on various
business organizations including Custom Information
Systems, Netus Corporation, and National Digital
Corporation. Alex later founded 2 useful business
companies, ROM Memories and Vanguard Data Systems. His
combined experience provoked a desire to pass on his
knowledge.
For the past 25 years, Alex Bradley has been
an instructor at various Universities around the world.

MACLEER, DOROTHY L., MBA, DBA Candidate
Assistant Professor of Business
Audit, accounting and risk control
professional with 17 years of Fortune 15 domestic and
international experience in financial, regulatory,
legal, compliance, accounting and risk-based analysis
and project management. Proven track record for
creating, implementing and monitoring financial,
compliance, audit and risk based enterprise-wide and
worldwide programs and corresponding employee training
for all organizational levels. Ph.D. and D.B.A.
candidate in International Business Management with
M.B.A., M.Sc., C.P.A. and strong research background in
financial, accounting, auditing and corporate governance

ROSS, RON, MBA
Assistant Professor of Business
Prof. Ross received his MBA from
California State University, Long Beach and his BS in
Mechanical Engineering from Southern Illinois
University.
He has owned and operated Multi-Library
Services, Inc. for more than 25 years. He also served as
an officer in the United States Navy aboard the USS Taluga.
Prof. Ross is the CFO for First Priority
Investments, Inc. and serves on the board of directors
as Vice President of the non-profit organization Ballet
Etudes.

SIMMONS, SAMUEL, DBA candidate
Associate Professor of Business
Since 1993, Samuel Simmons has been
teaching various Business courses at High schools and
Universities throughout California. He specializes in
Computer applications, management, and organizational
leadership. For twenty years, Samuel worked as a
Business store manager and trainer at both K-Mart and
Video Concepts.
In 1998, he was voted by his students as
the most inspirational teacher and received a
commendation form the Mayor of Los Angeles. Since then,
he has developed curriculum for various courses
including Business Law and Virtual Enterprise.
Samuel
received his MBA from Argosy University in 2005 and is
currently in the dissertation phase working towards his DBA in Management.

ANDERSON, KARL ANDY, MA
Assistant Professor of Business
Andy Anderson is a project producer
with 22 years technology and business solution
experience. Andy has an exceptional broad range of
hands-on expertise and experience implementing sound
project practices, aligning project goals with
organizational. He has performed large, small and
multiple projects for organizations including: Valeant
Pharmaceutical, Amgen, GE Energy, Los Angeles Police
Department, 24 Hour Fitness, Johns Manville, Rockwell
Semiconductors, The Walt Disney Studios, Walt Disney
Parks and Resorts, City and County of San Francisco,
Qualcomm, Intuit, Cendant, Qwest Communications, ICG
Telecom Group and many others. Andy has also designed
and initiated a pharmaceutical tech transfer project for
80 products, a $30 million product line creating 40
project timelines and working with the supply manager
and the marketing team to develop 12 new products.
Andy
obtained his MA in Organizational Development at the
Fielding Graduate University , and also has two Bachelor
degrees in Liberal Studies and Agricultural Science.

TAN, KIRSTY, MBA, PhD candidate
Assistant Professor of Business
Kirsty Tan is an experienced and
multi-lingual professional with exposure to international
organizations based in USA, China, Canada, Japan, and
many others. She has over nineteen years of diverse
corporate experience including accounting, finance,
strategic leadership, organizational development,
project management, process improvement, and financial
system implementation.
Kirsty is currently the Principal
for KST Consulting LLC where she provides coaching to
the senior executive and management team. She also led a
team of 25 professionals in a successful organizational
change initiative.
Kirsty Tan received her MBA at Deakin
University in Australia and is currently a candidate for
a Doctorate in Philosophy at the International school of
Management.

CHAN, STEPHEN H., MBA
Assistant Professor of Business
Stephen Chan received his MBA from
Pepperdine University in 1991 and his CPA License in
1982.
Since 1994, Stephen holds partnership with Grand
Central Square, a $60 million commercial, residential,
parking, and office complex where he manages the finance
and accounting department.
For the last 25 years,
Stephen Chan has specialized in financial accounting and
managing, including preparing financial statements,
audit schedules, corporate and partnership tax returns,
real estate accounting, construction accounting and
other various financial advisement.

QUIMPO, EVANGELINE, MA, M.P.M
Assistant Professor of Business
Assistant Prof. Quimpo received her
BA in Psychology from Philippine Normal College in 1982
and MA in Psychology from University of Santo Tomas,
Manila, Philippines in 1986. She also received her
Master of Arts in Christian Education major in
Educational Management from Philippine Association of
Christian Education (PACE) Graduate School of Christian
Education (PGSCE) Quezon City, Philippines 1994. Prof
Quimpo received her Master in Public Management from
Development Academy of the Philippines Pasig City, Metro
Manila in 1995.
